Where to live?

Choices are
a) West Village - very expensive, but it's only for a month or two - great location. Or
b) Brooklyn, Washington Heights, somewhere else...significantly cheaper but further away from where I like to be. But then I do have plenty of time to travel.
Which do you think?

how long is travelling? isn't it good to be somewhere different like Brooklyn as well - depends how much you want to do in the city at night I suppose
