In regards to the dogs in the window, I saw that they had air vents at the tops of the windows on the inside. So, I had my first, and potentially, last trip inside a pet shop to check if it was air-conditioned inside. It was quite cool, but it STANK. Plus, there were all these little puppies caged up at the back - so I think the ones in the window have the best deal.
I've read some bad reviews of this store, and also Le Petit Puppy on Christopher St. I am going to do some more investigative work - both mention puppy mills - a term I'd never heard of until this sojourn in New York.
